“Thinking is more interesting than knowing, but less interesting than looking”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
MARLENA BOCIAN has been painting since she was 15 years old. She was born in Poland and graduated from both, art and business school there. She first came to the U.S. in 2001 and earned a degree in visual arts at Quincy College. Marlena is currently a student of architecture at MassArt.
Marlena works in oils and acrylics and says that her painting style varies depending on her subject. She cites the work of Degas as an early influence. Indeed, an Impressionistic style is evident in her portraits; However, Cubist and abstract styles are reflected in her later works.
She exhibits frequently in galleries on both continents, showing recent works that emphasize science, math, and women of these worlds.
